Changed Department Store Culture Centers... "Plan the Lectures You Want to Attend Yourself"
Hyundai Department Store Launches Small Group Culture Center Classes 'First Appearance'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Hyundai Department Store is launching a program that allows customers to directly plan and attend cultural center courses together with family and acquaintances. This comes as more customers seek to enjoy private cultural activities with acquaintances instead of group courses that gather many people, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Hyundai Department Store announced on the 9th that starting from the 10th, it will introduce the ‘Project M’ program at cultural centers in 15 stores nationwide, including the Apgujeong Main Store, where customers can directly plan courses and attend in small groups with acquaintances.
Project M allows customers to gather a small group (around 5 people) to take courses together, and provides instructors and content exclusively for them. Customers can choose topics according to their preferences such as health, humanities, or arts, and directly specify the course format (experiential or educational) and schedule. For example, if a customer interested in cooking decides the concept and timing of a cooking-related course with acquaintances, the cultural center will arrange a cooking instructor and prepare the classroom.
In fact, during the holiday period in May (May 2?5), Hyundai Department Store opened 200 children and infant courses such as ‘Family Face Cookie Making’ and ‘Mini Basketball Hoop Origami’ for small family groups of about 5 people, and registration was closed early within three days.

Additionally, Hyundai Department Store will lend out over 130 classrooms within the 15 cultural centers free of charge to customers looking for small meeting spaces for activities like reading and crafts. Customers wishing to rent can apply by visiting the cultural center in person or by phone, and can use the space for up to 2 hours. Facilities and materials such as beam projectors, musical instruments, and cooking equipment at the cultural centers can also be used without additional cost.
