'Entertainment Hiatus' Jina Shares Update After 2 Years
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Singer Gina (33, real name Choi Gina), who stopped her entertainment activities after receiving a fine for prostitution charges, shared an update on her status after two years.
On the 8th, she posted a photo on her Instagram with the message, "Let's all wear a mask and stay healthy and safe. (Let's all #wearadamnmask & #stayhealthy #staysafe)".
In the revealed photo, Gina is wearing a red hat and a black mask while looking at the camera.
Gina tagged her current location as Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This is the first time in about two years since September 2018 that Gina has posted an update on social networking services (SNS).
Previously, Gina was involved in a controversy over overseas prostitution in 2016. She was accused of having sexual relations with a Korean-American businessman in Los Angeles in April 2015 and receiving 35 million won, and also accused of having sexual relations with another businessman in Korea in July of the same year and receiving 15 million won.
Gina denied the charges, saying it was "a partner I met with affection," but the court sentenced her to a fine of 2 million won for violating the Act on the Punishment of Acts of Arranging Sexual Traffic.
Afterwards, in September 2017, Gina posted a lengthy message on SNS expressing her feelings, saying, "Thank you for believing in me and not giving up despite the endless rumors," and expressed gratitude to her fans who trusted her.

Meanwhile, Gina debuted as a singer in 2010 under Cube Entertainment. She later released songs such as "I’ll Leave, Live Well," "Black & White," and "Top Girl."
