[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Kakao announced on the 8th that it will provide information on mobility and transfer routes for transportation-vulnerable individuals, as well as convenience and safety facilities, at 1,107 subway stations nationwide through its mobile map app KakaoMap, in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The information provided this time can be found in the 'Transportation Vulnerable Information' menu within each station's information, which appears when users tap on station names such as Seoul Station or Yongsan Station on KakaoMap. It guides whether convenience facilities for transportation-vulnerable individuals, such as ▲accessible restrooms ▲nursing rooms ▲wheelchair lifts ▲electric wheelchair charging stations, are available and their detailed locations.
For stations with mobility route information for transportation-vulnerable individuals, users can press the 'Transportation Vulnerable Mobility Route Guide' button and select the travel section to view entrances, transfer routes, and more at a glance based on the station layout. In the exit information menu for each station, the availability of ▲elevators ▲escalators ▲wheelchair lifts is displayed, allowing transportation-vulnerable individuals to easily check in advance which exit would be most convenient to use.
