Ministry of Culture Holds 'COVID-19 Art Forum'
7 Online Live Discussions Scheduled Through December
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 6th that it will hold the "COVID-19 Arts Forum: The Value and Future of Arts" seven times until December to overcome the crisis in the arts sector caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
This forum serves as a platform to explore new arts policies. Participating as organizing institutions are the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, Korea Artists Welfare Foundation, Arts Management Support Center, Korea Regional Cultural Foundation Association, Korea Arts Council, Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, and Korea National University of Arts. Together with artists in the field, they will discuss the value and welfare of arts in the COVID-19 era, the arts market, regional culture and arts, arts support systems, and the current status of arts education.
The theme of the first forum, held at 2 p.m. on the 8th, is "The Value and Resilience of Arts in an Era of Everyday Crisis." In connection with UNESCO's proposed "ResiliArt movement," the forum will explore ways to restore the arts facing crisis and policy support measures. Additionally, new attempts and efforts to protect artists and spread the value of arts will be shared.

Professor Park Shin-ui of Kyung Hee University Graduate School of Business will deliver the keynote presentation, and discussants include Jung Yuran, CEO of Culture Icon, and Yoon Bomi, CEO of Bom Art Project. The forum will be broadcast live via the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Facebook and the Korea Arts Council's YouTube channels. Kim Suhyun, Director of the Culture and Arts Policy Office at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "We will discover and confirm the value of arts to socially disseminate it, and publicize the issues faced by the arts ecosystem to seek future policy directions and tasks."
