United Future Party and People’s Party to Jointly Discuss ‘Youth Basic Income’
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The United Future Party and the People’s Party have agreed to jointly consider measures to provide basic income to youth and to families with infants aged 0 to 2 years.
On the 3rd, Kwon Eun-hee, floor leader of the People’s Party, told reporters after the “People’s Future Forum” held at the National Assembly Members’ Office Building, “We have selected youth basic income and caregiving participation income as policy tasks,” adding, “We plan to continue discussions with the United Future Party’s Policy Committee until the regular session of the National Assembly.”
When asked if there was a positive response to the policy alliance, Floor Leader Kwon said, “It is not yet the stage to see any reactions; we are currently sharing what policy tasks each side is considering.”

The People’s Future Forum is a research group involving members of both the United Future Party and the People’s Party. From the United Future Party, multiple first-term lawmakers including three-term lawmaker Yoo Ui-dong, and Kim Byung-wook, Kim Woong, and Yoon Hee-sook participated. From the People’s Party, Floor Leader Kwon and lawmaker Choi Yeon-sook were listed. Floor Leader Kwon and lawmaker Hwang were elected as co-chairs of the forum, and lawmaker Kim Byung-wook took on the role of secretary and chief researcher.
