Daegu City Selects 'Dalgubeol Master Craftsmen' as the Region's Top Skilled Artisans
In the fashion design field: Geum Young-jae, in beauty: Sim Seon-ja, and in baking and pastry: Park Ki-tae.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 3rd that it has selected three skilled technicians who possess excellent skills in the local industrial field and have contributed to the development of skilled technology and the improvement of the status of technicians as 'Dalgubeol Masters.'
The 'Dalgubeol Master' is a technician who has worked in the local industrial field for more than 15 years and contributed to the development of technology in the relevant field with the highest level of skilled technology. They are finally selected through document screening, on-site inspection, and interview evaluation.
This year's selected 'Dalgubeol Masters' are Geum Young-jae in the fashion design field, Shim Seon-ja in the beauty field, and Park Ki-tae in the baking and confectionery field.
Geum Young-jae, head of the sewing department at Youngjin Tailor Shop, who started as an apprentice at a tailor shop at the age of 18 and has walked only the path of fashion until now, said, "Although the fashion industry is becoming increasingly difficult and avoided, I will do my best to ensure that my sense of responsibility and mission as a master is not damaged through technology transfer to students and women struggling with employment activities and community service."
Shim Seon-ja, CEO of Sanghee Beauty Salon, who has consistently walked the path of beauty for 29 years and is passing on skills to juniors, stated, "I want to communicate with multicultural beauticians who have difficulty adapting to Korean culture, transfer skills, and develop new styles that combine the beauty of their countries with Korean beauty," revealing her future plans.
Park Ki-tae, CEO of P-Chef Korea Co., Ltd., who has been responsible for supporting his family from a young age due to difficult family circumstances, said, "I plan to develop representative baking and confectionery products and brands using local specialties such as lotus root (lotus leaf) from Banyawol and water parsley from Palgongsan, and I will continue sharing activities such as monthly bread volunteering and social service for vulnerable groups."
The selected masters will receive a total of 30 million KRW in skill encouragement funds, 500,000 KRW per month for five years. To select this year's Dalgubeol Masters, Daegu City announced the selection plan in April and received recommendations for 16 people in 11 occupations across 8 fields through the relevant districts and counties.
Since the first implementation of the Dalgubeol Master program in 2013, 38 masters have been selected in 19 occupations in the general industry, craft, and service fields up to this year.
