According to Korea Railroad on the 3rd, Hanwha Construction was selected as the preferred negotiator for the Daejeon Station area development project, and HDC Hyundai Development Company was selected as the second negotiator.
The Daejeon Station area development project involves redeveloping the Complex Zone 2 commercial site (about 30,000㎡ near Daejeon Station) within the redevelopment promotion district (about 100,000㎡) in Jeong-dong and Soje-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon.
Earlier, Korea Railroad conducted a public offering for selecting a business operator from March 31 to June 28, receiving business plans from two consortia, Hanwha Construction and Hyundai Development.
Subsequently, after evaluating the business plans in a blind manner, both consortia scored above the evaluation standard score (480 points out of 600) specified in the public offering guidelines, thus receiving a qualification rating for business execution capability.
However, Korea Railroad explained that Hanwha Construction received relatively higher evaluation scores in price and planning areas, thus securing the status of preferred negotiator.
In the public offering, Hanwha Construction submitted a business plan to build a complex facility including residential, retail, office, cultural, and lodging spaces under the concept of "connecting the city's space, time, and culture."
Going forward, Korea Railroad and Hanwha Construction will negotiate various conditions related to project planning, permits, construction, and operation management for 60 days, and then sign an agreement to implement the Daejeon Station area development project.
