China Awards Commendations to Chinese Troops Participating in the Korean War Aid to South Korea
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] The Chinese government is awarding a commemorative medal for the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army's participation in the Korean War.
On the 3rd, the People's Daily, the official newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party, reported on its front page that "the Central Leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission will award the '70th Anniversary Commemorative Medal of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army's Participation in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea'."
The recipients of the commemorative medal include ▲ surviving soldiers who participated in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea ▲ medical personnel, railway and transportation workers, interpreters, militia, journalists, writers, and photographers who were dispatched to support the war ▲ individuals who participated in local reconstruction in North Korea from July 1953 after the armistice until October 1958, when all volunteer troops withdrew.

China, in principle, limited the recipients of this commemorative medal to survivors, but those who passed away after January 1 of this year will also be included as recipients.
