Korea Petroleum Association Appoints Former Minister Jeong Dong-chae as 23rd President
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Jeong Dong-chae, former Minister of Culture and Tourism, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Korea Petroleum Association.
The Korea Petroleum Association announced on the morning of the 2nd that it held an extraordinary general meeting at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul, attended by CEOs of the four major oil refining companies?SK Energy, GS Caltex, S-OIL, and Hyundai Oilbank?and appointed Jeong Dong-chae (71), former Minister of Culture and Tourism, as the 23rd chairman of the association.
The new chairman is a native of Gwangju Metropolitan City and graduated from Salesio High School and Kyung Hee University with a degree in Korean Language and Literature. He entered politics after being elected as a member of the 15th National Assembly and served three terms until the 17th National Assembly. He also served as the 41st Minister of Culture and Tourism.
Since then, he has been actively involved in the cultural sector, serving as the executive chairman of the Gwangju International Film Festival Organizing Committee, chairman of the Gwangju ACE Fair Promotion Committee, and CEO of the Gwangju Biennale.
