Suncheon City Council Elects Councilor Heo Yuin as Chairperson for the 8th Term Second Half
Reelected Vice Speaker Assemblyman Park Gye-su
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Suncheon City Council in Jeollanam-do held the 1st plenary session of the 243rd extraordinary meeting and announced on the 1st that Councilor Heo Yu-in was elected as the chairman of the 8th Suncheon City Council's second half, and Councilor Park Gye-su was elected as the vice chairman.
Democratic Party of Korea's Councilor Heo Yu-in and independent Councilor Lee Bok-nam registered as candidates for the chairman election, but just before the vote, Councilor Lee Bok-nam withdrew his candidacy, making Heo Yu-in the sole candidate. Heo Yu-in was elected chairman of the second half with 22 out of 24 votes from the full members in the first round of voting.
Heo Yu-in, who will lead the Suncheon City Council for the next two years, is a three-term councilor representing Jogok and Deokyeon-dong districts. He previously served as the chairman of the Urban Construction Committee in the first half of the 7th council and as the chairman of the Council Steering Committee in the first half of the 8th council.
In his victory speech, Chairman Heo Yu-in said, “I will do my best to become a representative of the citizens and a city council for the citizens through reasonable oversight of city administration, healthy checks and balances, productive alternative proposals, and cooperation.”
Following the chairman election, in the vice chairman election, Councilor Park Gye-su ran unopposed and was elected vice chairman with 21 out of 24 votes from the full members in the first round of voting. Vice Chairman Park Gye-su is a two-term councilor from the Democratic Party of Korea representing Haeryong-myeon and currently serves as the chairman of the Special Committee for Rural Development in the 8th council.
