Hanwha Q CELLS Completes Solar Power Plant at BGF Retail CU Convenience Store Logistics Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Q CELLS announced on the 1st that it has completed a solar power plant with a capacity of approximately 1 megawatt (MW) on the roof of the central logistics center (CDC) located in Jincheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, operated by BGF Retail, which runs the convenience store CU. With this, BGF Retail has become the first in the industry to operate a large-scale solar power project at the megawatt level.
The Jincheon CDC solar power plant completed by Hanwha Q CELLS installed 2,400 solar modules on the idle space of the logistics center roof, producing about 1,200 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity annually, which is enough power for 1,400 households to use annually.
The solar modules installed at this power plant are ‘Q.PEAK DUO,’ a core product line that enabled Hanwha Q CELLS to achieve the number one market share in major solar module markets such as the United States, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
Hanwha Q CELLS products have been selected as ‘Top Performer’ for five consecutive years in the ‘2020 PV Module Reliability Scorecard’ conducted by global solar verification organizations DNV GL and PVEL, and were the only solar module manufacturer to receive the prestigious ‘Intersolar Award 2018’ in Germany, which is highly respected in the solar industry.
