Gochang-gun's 'Support for Eco-friendly Livestock Product Certification Fees' Receives Positive Response
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, is receiving great response from farms for the ‘Eco-friendly Livestock Product Certification Fee Support Project’ aimed at stable production and supply of clean and premium livestock products.
According to Gochang-gun on the 30th, the project provides partial subsidies for the costs of eco-friendly livestock product certification (new and renewal) to farms practicing eco-friendly livestock farming.
Since 2015, about 100 million KRW has been supported to farms that received eco-friendly livestock certification, resulting in approximately a 130% increase in certified farms compared to 2014.
Currently, Gochang-gun has a total of 77 certified farms, including 21 organic livestock farms and 56 antibiotic-free livestock farms.
The support targets farms and producer groups residing in Gochang-gun that have received eco-friendly livestock product certification. Certification fee support covers application fees, travel expenses (for certification auditors), and audit/management fees up to a limit of 400,000 KRW, excluding inspection fees.
To obtain eco-friendly certification, livestock must be raised according to certification standards such as breeding environment and conditions, self-sufficient feed base, livestock stocking and shipment, feed and nutrition management, and an application for eco-friendly certification must be submitted to a registered certification body.
Additionally, farms (producer groups) seeking eco-friendly certification are required to receive mandatory education every two years. Since April 10, an online course has been available, allowing education without restrictions on time and place.

A Gochang-gun official stated, “We will assist farms aiming to foster eco-friendly livestock farming suitable for the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve area to ensure no disruptions in the certification process,” and added, “We will strive to produce eco-friendly livestock products that can gain trust from many consumers.”
