Joo Ho-young: "Democratic Party's 3-Day Review of 35 Trillion Won Supplementary Budget Using People's Taxes... Super Bullying"
[Asia Economy reporters Lee Ji-eun and Lim Chun-han] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the United Future Party, criticized the ruling Democratic Party's review of the 3rd supplementary budget (supplementary budget), saying, "They plan to review a 35 trillion won supplementary budget funded by taxpayers' money for just three days without any funding measures."
On the morning of the 30th, at the United Future Party's members' meeting held in the National Assembly main building, Floor Leader Joo said, "They emphasize a working National Assembly, but in reality, they are packaging a 'reckless National Assembly' that does whatever they want as a working National Assembly." The United Future Party had been negotiating with the Democratic Party over the organization of committees until the 29th, but after the final breakdown, they declared a boycott of the standing committees.
Floor Leader Joo raised his voice, saying, "Like me, many lawmakers must have had sleepless nights due to worries and frustration about the country," and added, "The Democratic Party has established a system where they monopolize the National Assembly through super bullying and do whatever they want, and shamelessly try to blame our party for the breakdown of the opening negotiations and even attempt to sow discord within our leadership."
Regarding the opposition leadership discord rumors raised mainly by the ruling party, he explained, "We refused to divide the standing committees as if handing them out, and senior lawmakers in their third term gave up their vested interests out of concern for the country and the National Assembly," adding, "We clearly state that the boycott was not due to differing views among the leadership."
He said, "Our country has unknowingly finally become a one-party dictatorship. The presidential power, media power, prosecution power, judiciary power, local government power, and now even the National Assembly power are all monopolized by one party," and added, "Shamelessly, they appointed lawmakers Do Jong-hwan and Lee Gae-ho, who have served as ministers, as the respective standing committee chairs. It’s like saying not to audit." Lawmakers Do and Lee were appointed as chairmen of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee and the Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Food Committee, respectively.

Floor Leader Joo emphasized, "It is a serious situation where the constitution is being destroyed in many places, but it is unfortunate how little the public knows about it," and added, "The flower of the National Assembly is the standing committee chairmanship. We will become a strong opposition party trusted by the people so that the intentions of senior lawmakers who made a great decision without clinging to their positions will not be in vain."
