KT 'Altteul Phone' Subsidiary M Mobile Donates 2,500 Lunchboxes to Ssokbangchon
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT’s budget phone group company KT M Mobile announced on the 30th that it donated a total of 2,500 lunchboxes for residents of shantytowns in Seoul in collaboration with convenience store Seven Eleven.
This sponsorship was prepared to help solve meal problems for socially vulnerable groups struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. From June 15 to 26, over two weeks, KT M Mobile and Seven Eleven delivered 1,250 bibim makguksu and 1,250 young radish bibim guksu lunchboxes respectively to two shantytown areas in Seoul?Dongja-dong in Yongsan-gu and Changsin-dong in Jongno-gu?as well as social welfare facilities.
At the lunchbox sharing event held on the 26th in the Changsin-dong shantytown, Lee Do-hee, director of the Woori Modu Welfare Foundation, said, “With the early heatwave overlapping with COVID-19, it is expected that the residents of the shantytown will have an even more difficult summer this year,” adding, “We deeply appreciate the great help given to the residents to stay healthy through the hot summer.”

The two companies formed a partnership in February 2019 to sell budget phone USIM cards inside convenience stores to enhance consumer convenience and have been conducting sharing events as part of customer appreciation activities. In December last year, they also donated 350 Christmas cakes to a total of seven child welfare institutions through the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation. Park Jong-jin, CEO of KT M Mobile, stated, “We hope that this lunchbox donation will provide some help to those struggling with their livelihoods due to COVID-19,” and added, “We will continue to strive to become a warm company that shares the love received from customers with neighbors in need in our society.”
