Gyeonggi Office of Education Operates Dedicated Team for Improving Working Conditions of Facility Cleaners
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has launched a dedicated team to improve the treatment of facility cleaners.
The Gyeonggi Office of Education announced on the 30th that it recently formed a dedicated team and held its first meeting to discuss areas needing improvement in the operation of facility cleaners.
The dedicated team will conduct on-site inspections by dividing into direct agency investigation teams and school investigation teams. Based on this, they will review the appropriateness of facility cleaner placement standards, working hours, and environment, and work on improving any deficiencies.
Woo Ho-sam, head of the Labor-Management Cooperation Division at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, emphasized, "Since all facility cleaners are members of the Gyeonggi family, we will strive to improve their treatment so they can fully perform their roles."

Earlier, in accordance with the Moon Jae-in administration's policy on converting irregular workers to regular positions, the Gyeonggi Office of Education changed the employment method from subcontracting to direct employment for 1,808 existing cleaners starting from September 2018.
