Reflecting on Completing the First Half of the 8th Term
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Jo Gyu-dae, chairman of the 8th Iksan City Council, who has led the council, shared his reflections on the legislative activities over the past two years as his term comes to an end.
On the 29th, Chairman Jo said, “I have done my best to create a council that works together with the citizens,” adding, “This was possible thanks to the passionate support of the citizens.”
The 8th Iksan City Council, which was launched at the 209th extraordinary session in July 2018, will reorganize the second half leadership at the 227th extraordinary session to be held on the 2nd of next month.
The first half of the 8th Iksan City Council has made every effort to create a council that communicates with the citizens.
The Iksan City Council appointed overseas business trip review committee members from civic groups and other private sectors to objectively review official overseas business trips from the citizens’ perspective.
Also, amid the COVID-19 crisis, the council returned the overseas business trip budget to share the pain with the citizens and established an internet broadcasting system to realize an open council.
Furthermore, alongside the council’s role of monitoring and checking the executive branch, it devoted itself to policy research and vigorous legislative activities as a partner in city administration development.

Chairman Jo stated, “I will fulfill my duty as a city council member to become an inexhaustible spring and a strong root for Iksan,” and added, “I will work more diligently and sincerely in the field, close to the citizens.”
