View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Gyeongnam Province announced on the 29th that Lee Dong-hyung, former CEO of Cyworld, has been appointed as the 3rd Director of the Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center.
Director Lee held an inauguration ceremony on the same day and will serve a two-year term until June 28, 2022, taking on the role of a pioneer in Gyeongnam startups.
Director Lee graduated from the Department of Genetic Engineering at Kyungpook National University and joined LG-CNS. He entered the KAIST master's program in Management Engineering but left to prepare for a startup and co-founded Cyworld with five graduate school classmates through venture investment.
Additionally, Director Lee experienced the startup ecosystem culture in Silicon Valley in 2001 through Stanford University's 'IT Executive SEIT Program' and in 2012 with over 40 startup teams organized by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development.
He has continued his activities as a 'Startup Alliance Center Operating Committee Member' established in 2013 to revitalize the startup ecosystem, and as a 'TIPS Operator Selection and Startup Team Evaluator' for the promising future startup support program in 2014.

Director Lee stated, "Despite various government support policies, I am well aware of the reality that early-stage entrepreneurs struggle to enter the market," and expressed his ambition, saying, "I will do my best to revitalize Gyeongnam startups, the second phase of manufacturing innovation, by leveraging the experience accumulated through years of startup education and consulting."
