Emart24: "Not Considering Center Restart Yet"
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at Emart24's Yangji Ambient Logistics Center located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, has increased to two in total.
According to Yongin City and Emart24 on the 29th, Mr. A, a man in his 30s residing in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province (Yongin case number 102), was placed under active monitoring following the confirmed case at the logistics center on the 27th and was diagnosed positive within a day. He was tested at the Davos Hospital screening clinic at 12:50 a.m. on the 28th and received a positive diagnosis at 10:35 p.m. the same day. This information was reported to the Icheon City Health Center around 11:20 p.m.
Previously, on the 26th, the center was closed after the confirmed case of the 61st patient from Anyang, who was responsible for sorting Emart24 goods, and 19 coworkers were placed under active monitoring. The confirmed patient was found to have had contact with the first confirmed church member (Gunpo case number 59) related to Anyang Juyeonggwang Church. It was reported that no symptoms appeared during the regular fever checks.
However, among the 19 individuals under active monitoring, except for Mr. A who was additionally confirmed positive, the remaining 18 tested negative. A total of 84 people worked at the Yangji Ambient Logistics Center, which is a consignment logistics center handling Emart24's logistics, and it is known that there were no Emart24 employees present.
Emart24 closed the ambient center and took quarantine measures on the 26th, the day they were notified of the confirmed case by health authorities. The adjacent cold center was also preemptively closed as a preventive measure, and employees were instructed to stay at home. This information was also communicated to franchise stores. Until the Yangji Center's operations normalize, the company plans to minimize franchise store damage by using other logistics centers (Namyangju, Pyeongtaek, Yongin, Hwaseong).
