[Changes from the Second Half of the Year] Introduction of 'Reusable Wreath Labeling System'... Strengthening Safety Management of Rural Guesthouses
[Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Starting from August this year, it will be mandatory to indicate whether wreaths are reused. Additionally, the reporting requirements for rural farmstay accommodations will be relaxed, and safety management will be strengthened.
The government published "Changes Starting from the Second Half of 2020" on the 29th, which includes these details.
First, when producing or selling wreaths, individuals or companies that sell wreaths made with reused fresh flowers or produce, store, or display wreaths for sale must indicate that the wreaths are reused. They must also notify consumers and distributors that the wreaths are reused. This regulation will take effect from August 21.
The restrictions on reporting for existing rural farmstay operators will be eased. Currently, rural farmstays exceeding the total floor area standard (230㎡) that were legally reported and operated before 2006 (when the total floor area standard was not applied) cannot be transferred. However, from August 12, transfers will be allowed. Furthermore, rural farmstay operators must indicate that their accommodation is a rural farmstay on the entrance door and website so that consumers can recognize it. Until now, reporting for rural farmstays was only allowed for houses owned by the operator. Going forward, if the operator has lived in the house for more than three years and has operated or intends to operate a rural farmstay for more than two years, reporting for leased houses will be permitted. Along with this, farmstay operators must submit gas and electrical safety inspection certificates to local governments annually.

Starting from August 28, displaying terms such as "eco-friendly" on products without eco-friendly certification will result in imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 30 million KRW. Additionally, to expand domestic consumption of eco-friendly agricultural products and revitalize the eco-friendly processed food industry, the scope of eco-friendly certification will be expanded to include "pesticide-free raw material processed foods" and "organic 70%" products.
