Global COVID-19 Cases Surpass 10 Million Worldwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The total number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) worldwide has surpassed 10 million after six months.
According to the international statistics site Worldometer, as of 6:12 a.m. on the 28th (9:12 p.m. on the 27th Greenwich Mean Time), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases worldwide is 10,113,690.
The cumulative confirmed cases exceeded 10 million 179 days after China reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) on December 31 last year that an unidentified pneumonia outbreak occurred centered in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.
The number of confirmed cases by country was highest in the United States (2,587,479), Brazil (1,284,214), Russia (627,646), India (529,577), and the United Kingdom (310,250), in that order.
Following were Spain (295,549), Peru (272,364), Chile (267,766), Italy (240,136), and Iran (220,180).
Meanwhile, the cumulative death toll surpassed 500,000, reaching 500,174 as of 6:47 a.m. on the same day. The cumulative number of recovered patients was counted at 5,426,095 at the same time.
