Nexon's Ambitious Title 'Dungeon & Fighter Mobile' to Launch in China on August 12
Tencent to Handle Local Services in China
Surpasses 50 Million Pre-registrations
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Nexon's ambitious title, "Dungeon & Fighter (DNF) Mobile," will target the Chinese market on August 12.
According to Nexon on the 27th, the Chinese service of DNF Mobile will be handled by Tencent, which successfully established the PC game "DNF" in the local Chinese market.
Since March 2017, the Chinese government has not issued game licenses (distribution permits) to Korean games, citing the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) conflict as a pretext, but the DNF Mobile version had already secured a license around 2016, which turned out to be a "masterstroke."
DNF Mobile is a 2D action RPG for mobile based on the DNF intellectual property (IP), which started domestic service in 2005 and entered China in 2008, becoming a representative steady-seller game.
As the mobile version of DNF, which gained great popularity in China, expectations have been high even before its release. More than 50 million people participated in the pre-registration for DNF Mobile, which began last December, proving it to be the biggest anticipated title in China. Inside Nexon, there is hope that DNF Mobile will enjoy a second heyday in China.
DNF Mobile preserves the original's strengths such as fast action and exhilarating impact based on side-scrolling movement, while optimizing content tailored for the mobile platform to maintain DNF's unique action style. Up until recently, the game’s completeness has been enhanced through focus group tests (FGT) and large-scale testing in China.
No Jeong-hwan, CEO of Neople, the developer of DNF Mobile, said, "DNF Mobile is the first mobile game based on the DNF IP to be launched in China," adding, "We will do our best to continue successful service based on the know-how accumulated from servicing DNF and our close partnership with Tencent."
