Seoul City Reports 13 Additional COVID-19 Cases in the Afternoon... Wangseong Church Cluster Infection Continues
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Seoul City announced that as of 6 p.m. on the 26th, 13 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were added in Seoul, bringing the total to 1,280.
Looking at the confirmed cases by infection route on that day, 7 cases (total 14) were related to the Wangseong Church cluster infection in Gwanak-gu, 3 cases (total 7) were related to a gathering in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, and 1 case (total 299) was imported from overseas. Two cases (total 291) were classified as 'others.'
At Wangseong Church, infections have continued since a 31-year-old woman living in Seowon-dong (Gwanak 90th case) was first confirmed on the 24th. It was confirmed that the Gwanak 90th patient attended the church choir practice on the 18th, participated in the church MT held in Daebudo, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do from the 19th to the 20th, and sang in the choir on the 21st.
According to information disclosed by quarantine authorities in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and other regions, 7 additional positive cases were confirmed on the 25th, followed by 7 confirmed cases in Seoul alone on the 26th.
Among the patients related to Wangseong Church, there are also a teacher from Ewha Girls' High School located in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, and a sauna employee from the Four Seasons Hotel in Jongno-gu, raising concerns about a chain infection.
