View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] On the 25th, Gyeongnam Province held the 70th anniversary event of the June 25 War at the provincial government auditorium.
The event, co-hosted by the province and the Republic of Korea June 25 War Veterans Association, was held to reaffirm the will for peace on the Korean Peninsula and to express respect and gratitude to the veterans of the June 25 War.
Governor Kim Kyung-soo, Chairman Kim Ji-soo of the Provincial Council, Jin Jeong-mu, Chief of Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, Park An-su, Commander of the 39th Infantry Division, Kang Seong-hee, Commander of the Naval Jinhae Base, and heads of related organizations and veterans’ groups attended.
At the event, three veterans including Ha Jong-tae, head of the Gyeongnam branch of the June 25 War Veterans Association, received the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs’ Appreciation Medal, and commendations were presented to ten exemplary veterans.
Governor Kim said, "Peace cannot be maintained through conflict, confrontation, and strife, and the people must never experience a war like the June 25 War again. We will build the Republic of Korea, protected by the sacrifice and dedication of the veterans, into a peaceful and free country."

The event was held in compliance with quarantine guidelines to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), including significantly reducing the number of attendees, disinfecting the venue, seating with one seat apart, temperature checks, and wearing masks.
