Seodaemun-gu 'Sinchon Boxquare' Supports Menu Development for Young Merchants
1:1 Consulting to Be Conducted 12 Times Across 3 Stores by Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) is collaborating with the food service company Efoodlab to conduct the ‘Growing Merchants School 1st Class’ for young merchants operating in Sinchon Box Square.
One-on-one consulting sessions for menu development will be held four times each at three stores, totaling 12 sessions by next month.
At the ‘Chunky Pie’ store, a meat pie will be developed, while at the ‘Owol-e Mannan Banana’ and ‘Rooftop Camping’ stores, chocolate cookies and seafood seasoning will be developed respectively, and these will be unveiled to customers in August.
The consultants include Professor Oh Ji-eun from Ewha Womans University, instructor Ye Ji-su, and Director Kim Young-kyung from Efoodlab.
Jang Yong-seok, CEO of Chunky Pie, said, “This consulting is conducted in a one-on-one customized manner, and we expect it to be a great opportunity to develop differentiated menus and recipes.”
The district plans to operate the ‘Growing Merchants School 2nd Class’ in the second half of this year to help merchants focus more on menu development.
Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, stated, “In addition to connecting with experts, we plan to provide educational programs on kindness, foreign languages, tax management, and brand consulting.”

‘Sinchon Box Square’ is a facility established by Seodaemun-gu in front of Sinchon Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line to support youth startups and revitalize the local commercial district. The first floor is occupied by existing street vendors, while the second and third floors serve as startup spaces for young entrepreneurs.
