A man in his 20s repeatedly assaulted and sexually assaulted his girlfriend... sentenced to 5 years in prison
[Asia Economy Min Jun-young Intern Reporter] A man in his 20s who repeatedly beat and sexually assaulted his girlfriend was sentenced to five years in prison.
The Daejeon District Court Criminal Division 12 (Presiding Judge Lee Chang-kyung) announced on the 24th that A (23), who was tried on charges of assault and sexual assault against his girlfriend, was sentenced to five years in prison.
The court also ordered A to complete 80 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and restricted him from working at child and youth-related institutions for seven years.
The court stated, "Considering that the series of crimes were committed against a vulnerable woman in a private space, and that the defendant showed a sadistic attitude by consistently ignoring and mocking the victim's dignity, the nature of the crime is severe," adding, "The defendant's denial of the crime with absurd claims was also taken into account in sentencing."
A was previously prosecuted for beating and sexually assaulting B, his then-girlfriend, dozens of times at B's home in December 2018.
It was also investigated that he forcibly cut B's hair and threatened to harm her pet.
During the trial, A denied the charges, claiming, "I did hit her a few times, but the sexual intercourse was consensual."
