Gyeongbuk Yecheon-gun Achieves Success in Hosting the 2022 Asia Junior Athletics Championships
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] The '2022 Asia Junior Athletics Championships,' a grand festival of youth athletics representing 4.2 billion Asians, will be held in Yecheon, Gyeongbuk.
Gyeongsangbuk-do and Yecheon-gun announced the progress made so far in attracting the event and discussed plans for successful event management on the 24th at the Yecheon Public Stadium conference room.
Yecheon-gun explained that by successfully attracting the competition that discovers talents who will lead Asian athletics for the next decade, it has created an opportunity to leap forward as a central city for Asian athletics.
Among about 50 international and national competitions hosted by the Korea Association of Athletics Federations, Yecheon-gun has steadily increased its event hosting record, holding 3 competitions last year and 7 this year. It possesses all facilities for year-round training in both summer and winter, including Korea's only athletics-dedicated dome training center, sloped training grounds, and sand training grounds, establishing itself as the mecca of Korean athletics.
Based on its experience hosting large-scale domestic and international events, Yecheon-gun is fully committed to preparing for the event by devising measures in various sectors such as transportation, accommodation, and food services, as well as remodeling the public stadium.
