POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks Supports Social Welfare Facilities with Vehicles Worth 96 Million KRW
Designated Donation to Jeonnam Sarangui Yeolmae
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Nodongil, Jeonnam Sarangui Yeolmae) announced on the 24th that POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Lee Siwoo) has supported vehicles worth 96 million KRW for local social welfare facilities.
About 40 officials attended the delivery ceremony, including Kim Myungwon, Deputy Mayor of Gwangyang, Kim Jeongsu, Executive Deputy Director of POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks, Nodongil, Chairman of Jeonnam Sarangui Yeolmae, and Seo Kyungseok, Chairman of the Gwangyang City Sarang Nanum Welfare Foundation.
Since 2006, POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks has supported 50 vehicles to date, including vans, lift vehicles for socially vulnerable groups, and large buses every year.
The vehicles to be donated this time include two vans for the Yedam Regional Children's Center and the Seosan Narae Vocational Rehabilitation Facility for the Disabled, and two compact SUVs for the Gwangyang YWCA House Opening Happiness, a domestic violence victim protection facility, and the Youth Human Rights Center, with a designated donation of 96 million KRW to the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea.
In particular, among the vehicles delivered this time, the Tivoli Air was made using 100% POSCO steel sheets, enhancing the significance of the delivery ceremony.
Kim Jeongsu, Executive Deputy Director of POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks, said, “We have supported vehicles again this year to facilitate the mobility of children and users of the facilities,” and added, “We will become a company that contributes greatly to practicing customized welfare services for the underprivileged in the local community.”
Nodongil, Chairman of Jeonnam Sarangui Yeolmae, expressed gratitude, saying, “I thank the Executive Deputy Director of POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks and all the staff who extended their warm hands during these difficult times,” and added, “We ask for continued interest and participation so that the virtuous cycle of sharing can continue by supporting various welfare projects in the future.”
Meanwhile, POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks has donated about 13 billion KRW to Jeonnam Sarangui Yeolmae since 2007 based on the management philosophy of “Corporate Citizenship Growing Together,” supporting vehicles for social welfare facilities and daycare centers used by children with disabilities.

In addition, it carries out social contribution and sharing activities throughout the local community, including the “Love House Repair” project, support for the “Gwangyang City Child Group Home Construction” project to strengthen social care, as well as the “Low-Income Student School Supplies Support Project” and “Love Rice Support.”
