AIA Life Simplifies Insurance Claim Process for COVID-19 Confirmed Patients
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] AIA Life announced on the 24th that it has simplified the insurance claim procedure to enable prompt payment of insurance benefits to patients confirmed with the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Previously, insurance claims required submission of documents such as a medical certificate and hospital admission/discharge confirmation. However, confirmed patients who cannot obtain a medical certificate due to hospital access restrictions can submit only a screening clinic admission confirmation issued by the government or local government head when filing a claim to receive a fixed hospitalization benefit. This is also applicable when re-admitted due to relapse after full recovery by submitting the admission confirmation again.
The insurance payment process has also been expedited, allowing patients to receive insurance benefits on the same day as the claim. Upon receipt of the COVID-19 patient’s insurance claim, a dedicated examiner is immediately assigned to ensure swift payment.
Additionally, AIA Life classifies COVID-19 as a disaster and pays disaster-related insurance benefits if the disease causes an insurance claim event. Customers with disaster death riders will receive disaster death insurance benefits if they die from COVID-19, and those with disaster hospitalization riders will receive hospitalization benefits if hospitalized due to COVID-19.
