Iran Reports 121 New COVID-19 Deaths... Fatality Rate at 4.7%
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Iranian Ministry of Health announced on the 23rd (local time) at noon that the number of deaths from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) increased by 121 compared to the previous day. The cumulative number of COVID-19 related deaths in Iran reached 9,863 (fatality rate 4.7%).
The daily number of new deaths in Iran had been below 100 for about two months since mid-April, but exceeded 100 on the 14th of this month, and for the past five consecutive days, more than 100 deaths have occurred each day.
As of this day, 2,445 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were added, increasing the total to 209,970. Iran's daily new confirmed cases have been in the mid-2,000s for three weeks after reaching a peak of 3,574 on the 4th of this month.
