One More COVID-19 Infection in Daejeon... Contact with Confirmed Case at Dunsan Electronic Town (Update)
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] As new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have occurred in Daejeon, it has been confirmed that all of them had contact with existing confirmed patients, raising concerns about 'Nth generation infections' within the region.
According to Daejeon City on the 23rd, as of 6 p.m. that day, one additional COVID-19 confirmed case was reported. The city announced that one contact related to Dunsan Electronic Town in Tanbang-dong, Seo-gu, tested positive for COVID-19 that afternoon.
With this, the total number of confirmed cases in Daejeon since the 15th has reached 91 (including 15 overseas entrants).
The 91st confirmed case reported that day is a man in his 70s residing in Guam-dong, Yuseong-gu, who had contact with previously confirmed patients at the Dunsan Electronic Town office 627 on the 12th.
According to the movement route of the confirmed patient disclosed by Daejeon City, this patient visited the Homedoctor office at Dunsan Electronic Town 627 on the 12th, stayed at home on the 13th and 14th, and then visited Joongang Internal Medicine Clinic in Bongmyeong-dong, Yuseong-gu, and Yuseong Taepyeongyang Pharmacy on the 15th.
He stayed at home on the 16th, visited Joongang Internal Medicine Clinic and Yuseong Taepyeongyang Pharmacy again on the 17th, and stayed at home from the 18th to the 21st. On the 22nd, he was tested at the screening clinic of Yuseong-gu Public Health Center and was self-isolating when he was confirmed positive on the 23rd. It was confirmed that there were no special contacts with this confirmed patient.
Earlier, the 87th confirmed patient (a man in his 60s) residing in Seo-gu visited Dunsan Electronic Town 627, one of the COVID-19 outbreak sites in Daejeon, and after contact with the 74th confirmed patient there, tested positive for COVID-19.
Daejeon City has identified Orange Town 207 in Goejeong-dong, Seo-gu, and Dunsan Electronic Town 627 as major COVID-19 spread routes and has requested the police to investigate the businesses located there.
