According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 23rd, a stationary front will move northward along with a low-pressure system approaching from the West Sea from the morning of the 24th to the morning of the 25th, bringing the rainy season rain to the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas.
Rain will begin on the West Coast in the morning of the 24th, and as the rain clouds move eastward, the rain will expand to the entire region by the afternoon. Heavy rain of 20 to 30 mm per hour, with a maximum of over 80 mm, is forecast mainly around the South Coast and the Jirisan area.
In particular, there will be places with thunder and lightning. The South Coast and the Jirisan area are expected to receive 30 to 80 mm of rain, while other parts of Gwangju and Jeonnam will see 10 to 50 mm.
Winds are also expected to be strong, and from early morning on the 24th, a strong wind advisory will be issued for Heuksando, Hongdo, Jindo, Sinan, Yeonggwang, and Hampyeong areas, and a high wave advisory will be issued for the northern offshore waters of the southern West Sea.
Maximum instantaneous wind speeds of around 70 km/h (20 m/s) will blow very strongly, especially along the West Coast, and there will be gusts in other areas as well.
