Hydrogen Experts from Around the World Gather... International Hydrogen Forum to Be Held on the 2nd of Next Month

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] The international hydrogen forum, which shares the current status, vision, and strategies of the global hydrogen industry, will be held on the 2nd during Korea's first hydrogen energy expo, 'Hydrogen Mobility+ Show.'

The Hydrogen Mobility+ Show Organizing Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Organizing Committee) announced on the 23rd that it will host the international hydrogen forum by inviting global hydrogen industry experts during the '2020 Hydrogen Mobility+ Show.' The forum will take place from 1 PM on the 2nd in the seminar room of Hall 3, Exhibition Center 1 at KINTEX.

The keynote speeches will feature Moon Jae-do, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Chairman of the Hydrogen Convergence Alliance Promotion Group, and Erwin Penfonius, Vice Chairman of Air Liquide, a world-renowned industrial gas company. They will present on the current market status and challenges of Korea's hydrogen industry, Korea's proactive hydrogen economy initiatives, and international insights on Asia's long-term hydrogen demand.

In the special session, Yeonwoo Choi, Manager at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, will present on 'Strategies for Creating a Hydrogen Industry Ecosystem,' and Sehoon Kim, Executive Director at Hyundai Motor Company, will speak on 'The Advent of a Hydrogen Society and Mobility Vision.' Following this, Chairman Moon, the keynote speaker, will moderate a panel discussion. The panel discussion will be broadcast live via an online webinar platform, with real-time Q&A sessions.

Session 1, titled 'Current Status of the Overseas Hydrogen Industry,' will feature international speakers. Considering difficulties for overseas speakers to enter the country due to COVID-19, presentations will be conducted in a one-on-one video format.

Speakers include Jorg Gigler, Director of the Netherlands Government Renewable Energy Committee; Mark Kirby, Chairman of the Canadian Hydrogen Industry Association; Bill Ulrich, Chairman of the California Hydrogen Industry Association; and Allen Naze, Director of Canada Hydrogenics. Notably, Director Jorg Gigler is an expert who has focused on sustainability and innovation in the gas industry within the Netherlands' energy transition for the past 14 years. He will present on 'Netherlands' Hydrogen Policies, Plans, and Projects' at the forum.

Session 2, featuring domestic hydrogen industry experts, will be held under the theme 'The Future of Hydrogen Mobility, Charging Infrastructure, and Material Industry.' Attendees include Doosoon Lee, CEO of Doosan Mobility Innovation; Hyungil Shin, Vice President of Bumhan Fuel Cell; Jongsu Yoo, President of Hydrogen Energy Network; and Museok Lee, Executive Director at Kolon Industries, who will present on various issues.

CEO Lee, with experience at Hyundai Motor Company and Doosan Infracore, is currently focusing on developing hydrogen fuel cell drones. Executive Director Lee is a fuel cell business expert who has researched the development of moisture control devices for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and building fuel cell systems, as well as core technologies for hydrogen electric buses for urban driving.

The forum is free and will be held on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can be submitted on the Hydrogen Mobility+ Show website until the 30th.

An Organizing Committee official stated, "This international hydrogen forum is prepared as an opportunity to explore the development direction of the industry through various presentations and Q&A sessions covering the entire hydrogen industry ecosystem and to understand the hydrogen economy. As an international event with many experts leading the hydrogen economy from major countries worldwide participating, we hope discussions on revitalizing the hydrogen economy will be more active."
