Abe Cabinet's Popularity Hits Record Low in Japan... 49% Say 'Do Not Support'

Top Reason for No Support: "Cannot Trust Character"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] It has been revealed that the popularity of the Shinzo Abe Cabinet has hit an all-time low.
According to a monthly public opinion poll conducted by Japan's public broadcaster NHK, the percentage of respondents who support the Abe Cabinet was 36%. The telephone survey was conducted from the 19th to the 21st with 1,270 voters nationwide (based on valid responses), showing a 1 percentage point decrease compared to the previous month's survey.
On the other hand, the percentage of respondents who do not support the cabinet rose by 4 percentage points to 49%. Among the reasons for not supporting, 44% cited that they "cannot trust Prime Minister Abe's character," followed by 27% who said they "cannot have expectations for the policies."

NHK reported, "According to our poll results, the proportion of those who do not support the cabinet has reached the highest level since the launch of the second Abe Cabinet in December 2012."
