The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 22nd through its website the implementation plan for the "2020 2nd Qualification Exams for Elementary, Middle, and High School Graduation."
The qualification exams are academic recognition tests conducted twice a year to provide educational opportunities to those who have not entered regular elementary, middle, or high schools or who have discontinued their studies. Approximately 5,000 people take the exam annually in Busan.
The questions for this 2nd qualification exam will be based on the "2015 Revised Curriculum" for the elementary level and the "2009 Revised Curriculum" for the middle and high school levels. Starting in 2021, all levels?elementary, middle, and high school?will use the "2015 Revised Curriculum" for the exam.
Especially for this exam, to minimize disadvantages for out-of-quota candidates due to school opening delays caused by COVID-19, the eligibility restriction date for out-of-quota candidates at the elementary and middle school levels will be relaxed from the original announcement date to the day after the application deadline.
The application period is from 9:00 AM on July 13 to 6:00 PM on July 17. Applications and form distribution will be handled at the outdoor reception area of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education annex building.
Additionally, online applications will be accepted from 9:00 AM on July 13 to 6:00 PM on July 16. The exam will be conducted on August 22 at nine test centers throughout Busan.
For the elementary qualification exam, the test center will be set up at Yeonil Middle School; for the middle school qualification exam, at Yeonil Middle School and Dongbaek Middle School.
For the high school qualification exam, test centers will be established at Geumyang Middle School (Test Center 1), Daeyeon Middle School (Test Center 2), Hwashin Middle School (Test Center 3), Dadae Middle School (Test Center 4), and Singok Middle School (Test Center 5). Test centers will also be set up at Busan Prison and Oryun Information Industry School (Busan Juvenile Detention Center).
For examinees with disabilities, one assistant will be assigned per test center, and accommodations such as reading assistance and writing assistance will be provided. Examinees who require such accommodations should indicate their needs on the "Disability Accommodation Request Form" when submitting their application.
Examinees must bring their admission ticket, ID card, and a black water-based pen for computer use (black ballpoint pen for elementary level) to the test center indicated on the admission ticket, following the "Examinee Guide" distributed at the time of application.
Successful candidates will be announced on September 11 at 10:00 AM on the Office of Education’s website.
The Office of Education strongly encourages applicants to apply online using a certified digital certificate to prevent COVID-19 infection. For in-person applications, wearing a mask is mandatory, and special care should be taken to avoid exposure to infection risks.
