US and Russia to Hold Long-Range Nuclear Weapons Control Talks in Austria Next Week
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] The United States and Russia are scheduled to discuss arms control issues next week in Austria, major foreign media reported on the 19th (local time).
According to the reports, Marshall Billingslea, the U.S. Special Representative for Arms Control, and Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, are set to meet in Austria for two days starting on the 22nd.
The two countries need to extend the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, which expires in February next year. This treaty limits the deployed nuclear warheads of both countries to 1,550.
