Gyeongnam Office of Education Holds Briefing on Basic Plan for 2021 High School Admission Process
Volunteer Hours Reflected as 40 Hours Over 3 Years; High School Entrance Exam Fee Waived
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] The Gyeongnam Office of Education announced on the 19th that it will hold the ‘2021 Gyeongsangnam-do High School Admission Basic Plan Briefing Session’ for four days from the 23rd to the 26th at the Special Education Center in Miryang City and the Science Education Center in Jinju City.
This briefing session targets 964 people including education support office supervisors, vice principals of middle and high schools, and those in charge of admissions and advancement tasks, aiming to enhance the fairness and rationality of high school admissions and strengthen guidance and promotion for students and parents.
The main contents include the distinction between early and late high schools, application methods and eligibility, admission plans by period for high school admissions, and guidelines for calculating internal grades for the 2021 high school admission process.
Compared to last year’s admission process, changes include reflecting volunteer activity hours for internal grades in high school admissions as 15 points maximum for 40 hours over three years without grade distinction, due to the COVID-19 situation.
Additionally, to normalize the curriculum for 3rd-year middle school students, the deadline for high school internal grade submission has been changed from November 13 to November 25.
In particular, following the ‘Recommendations for Improvement of Public Life-Related Systems’ by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, the provincial high school admission fee collection rules have been revised, exempting admission fees for high school entrants from the 2021 academic year.
