Seongbuk-gu Gwak Jaewon and Kim Seri Receive Ministerial Commendation for Youth Development and Protection Contributions

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced that two youths (Gwak Jaewon, Kang Seri) who were active at the Seongbuk-gu Youth Counseling Welfare Center and Seongbuk-gu Youth Support Center Dream received commendations from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family for their contributions to youth development and protection.
The youth category of the commendation for contributions to youth development and protection is awarded in May, Youth Month, to youths who have contributed to the healthy growth of young people and the creation of a youth-friendly social environment. This award aims to raise public interest in youth development and protection.
The award ceremony for contributors to youth development and protection, which was scheduled to be held at the May Youth Month commemorative ceremony, was canceled due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Instead, Mayor Lee Seung-ro personally invited the youths to the mayor’s office on the 16th to congratulate and encourage them.
Gwak Jaewon, one of the award recipients, said, “Through peer counseling activities, I have gained a greater understanding and interest in other youths, and by counseling various youths, I had the opportunity to reconsider my own career path.”
Kang Seri also shared, “As an out-of-school youth, going out into society was sometimes frightening, but with the encouragement and care from the Dream Center, I was able to pursue my dream and enter the university I wanted. I will continue to move forward toward my dreams.”
