Gwanak-gu Completes 96.6% Distribution of Government Emergency Disaster Relief Funds
Gwanak-gu Support Scale Total 143 Billion Won... Major Role in Revitalizing Local Economy... Objection Deadline June 25, Usage Deadline August 31
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) has completed payment of 96.6% of the government emergency disaster relief funds, distributing them to 248,242 households out of a total of 257,105 households as of June 17.
The current payment status is as follows: ▲ Card companies 75% (192,717 households) ▲ Prepaid cards 12.2% (31,338 households) ▲ Cash payments 8.7% (22,374 households) ▲ Seoul Sarang Gift Certificates 0.71% (1,813 households).
After the additional emergency disaster relief budget was approved by the National Assembly plenary session on April 29, the district immediately formed a task force team, assigning 20 dedicated staff members to the call center and the objection handling team to minimize confusion during the initial implementation of the policy through thorough prior preparation.
Also, to minimize inconvenience in prepaid card distribution and on-site processes, dedicated counters were set up in each neighborhood community service center, facilitating prompt payments to enhance convenience for residents.
The scale of emergency disaster relief fund recipients in Gwanak-gu is 257,105 households, with a total support amount of 143 billion KRW. Considering that the 2020 Gwanak-gu budget was approximately 760 billion KRW, about 20% of the total budget will be newly injected into the local economy in cash, which is expected to play a significant role in revitalizing the regional economy.
Mayor Park Junhee said, “We ask for active participation in using the emergency disaster relief funds within the period to increase sales for local small business owners and revitalize the depressed local economy,” and added, “Households that have not yet applied are encouraged to visit their local neighborhood community service center promptly to apply.”
The application deadline for the emergency disaster relief funds has been extended from the original June 18 to August 19.
