Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Files Three Patent Applications Including Soft Ground Water Loading Method
YGPA Secures New R&D Construction Technology Pathway Through Patent Application
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on the 18th that it has laid the groundwork for innovating the intellectual property ecosystem through three patent applications, including the soft ground water loading method.
The soft ground water loading method is a soft ground loading technique that minimizes the use of soil by filling large rubber tubes with water and installing them instead of conventional soil.
In addition, it is expected to contribute to economic efficiency by minimizing forest damage caused by obtaining soil and reducing construction costs related to the purchase and transportation of loading soil.
The Authority also applied for patents on the combined structure of gravity-type concrete blocks using shear keys and caissons using shear keys and high-strength bolts, increasing shear strength for structures such as quay walls, wharfs, or breakwaters to ensure the safety of the pier.
Since last November, the Authority has been leading the promotion of R&D industries in the maritime port sector through patent-based research and development projects, including patent applications for smart mooring lights and barge lifts, and recognition as a dedicated research department by the Korea Industrial Technology Association in April.
President Cha Min-sik said, “We will promote innovation in the YGPA intellectual property ecosystem by continuously advancing our own patent and construction technology-based research and development projects.”
