Easy Internet and Smartphone Payment Until June 30... 3% Penalty Interest for Delinquency
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) imposed 15.6 billion KRW in regular automobile tax for June 2020 on 133,042 cases.
The regular automobile tax is levied twice a year in June and December. The first installment for this period applies to automobiles, construction machinery, and motorcycles over 125cc registered in Songpa-gu as of June 1, 2020. However, vehicles that prepaid the annual automobile tax in January and March this year are exempt from this levy.
The payment deadline is until the 30th of this month. Failure to pay by the deadline will incur an additional 3% penalty.
If you have a tax bill, you can pay at any financial institution nationwide. Even without a tax bill, taxpayers can check their tax details and pay using their bankbook, cash card, or credit card at cash withdrawal machines (CD/ATM).
Lost or damaged tax bills can be reissued at the tax office of the nearest district office or community service center in Seoul.
Payment is even more convenient using the internet or smartphone. You can pay via ▲Seoul Metropolitan Government Local Tax Payment System website (ETAX) ▲Internet homepage Giro ▲Seoul tax payment smartphone app (S-TAX). Notably, ETAX supports KakaoPay.
If using the internet or smartphone is difficult, you can ▲pay by cash or credit card at convenience stores ▲transfer to dedicated accounts at Shinhan, Woori, KEB Hana, KB Kookmin, IBK Industrial, Post Office, Citi, Nonghyup, Suhyup, KakaoBank, K Bank, etc. ▲or pay via ARS phone service.

Mayor Park Seong-su of Songpa-gu stated, “Since automobile tax delinquency results in penalties and disadvantages such as vehicle license plate seizure, we urge payment within the deadline.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to enhance taxpayers’ convenience and provide fair and trustworthy tax administration.”
