View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that it awarded certificates to 20 companies selected as '2020 Gimhae-type Small Giant Companies.'
The city is conducting a project to intensively nurture a total of 100 Gimhae-type Small Giant Companies over five years by selecting 20 companies annually since last year. The target companies are small and medium-sized enterprises with headquarters in Gimhae and annual sales of over 2 billion KRW, aiming to foster innovative companies with competitiveness.
This year, 50 companies applied, and after document and on-site evaluations with a competition rate of 2.5 to 1, 20 companies were finally selected.
Selected companies receive administrative and financial support in cooperation with six financial and related institutions in the province, including 50 million KRW in dedicated funds from the city, loan interest support up to 1.2% from NongHyup and Gyeongnam Bank, guarantee support and up to 0.3% additional reduction in guarantee fees from the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, consulting support and additional points for designation as promising SMEs from the Gyeongnam Small and Medium Business Administration, preferential interest rates on policy funds from the Small and Medium Business Corporation, and priority selection and export consultation support for export support projects from KOTRA.

Mayor Heo Seong-gon of Gimhae said, “As a result of selecting 20 small giant companies for the first time in the province last year and providing various customized support, concrete achievements such as an average sales increase of 10.5%, winning the 10 million USD export tower award, and selection as Gyeongnam Star Companies have been made.” He added, “We will spare no administrative and financial support so that our companies can grow beyond Gimhae-type Small Giant Companies into Gyeongnam Star Companies and global small giant companies.”
