Yangcheon-gu Improves Working Conditions for Medical Staff at Walking-Through Screening Clinics
Installed using the 'Glove Wall' method that requires no direct contact with test subjects, significantly reducing the risk of healthcare worker infections... Cooling facilities can be installed, and protective suits are not required, improving healthcare workers' working conditions
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) announced that it will operate a walking-through screening clinic.
The medical staff working at the screening clinic have been struggling in the heat while wearing Level D protective suits that cover the entire body. Since the protective suits, which cost about 20,000 to 30,000 KRW each, cannot be reused once removed, it is difficult for them to take breaks even briefly in the sweltering heat.
Moreover, the existing screening clinics were set up outdoors with tents, making it impossible to install air conditioning facilities, and there was a concern about infection risk due to direct contact between the examinees and medical staff during the testing process.
In response, the district has been installing one walking-through screening clinic on its own since the 12th to improve the working environment for medical staff and to enable safer testing for examinees, and it plans to fully operate it within this week.
Additionally, the walking-through screening booth donated by Goryeo Giyun will also be operated concurrently.
The walking-through screening clinic is designed in a glove-wall format, where the examinee and medical staff do not have direct contact through a transparent partition, and only the gloved arm extends outside to collect specimens. This allows medical staff to conduct tests safely and quickly inside the screening clinic without wearing protective suits, and air conditioning facilities can also be installed.
