India's COVID-19 Deaths Increase by 2,000 in One Day, Including Unreported Cases
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] The daily death toll from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in India has increased more than fivefold.
On the 17th, Indian health authorities announced that the cumulative COVID-19 death toll rose by about 2,000 in one day to approximately 11,900.
Recently, India's daily COVID-19 deaths ranged between 300 and 400, but surged sharply on this day.
Indian media reported that the sudden increase was due to the inclusion of about 1,300 previously uncounted deaths across India in March and April in the day's tally.
