As members of the United Future Party protested the ruling party's unilateral organization of the committee by refusing to attend, the meeting proceeded with only 'half' of the members present.
Yoon Hoo-duk, the Planning and Finance Committee chairman from the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "It is regrettable and unfortunate that the United Future Party members are unable to attend," but added, "We held today's meeting with the judgment that nothing takes precedence over taking care of people's livelihoods and the economy." He also urged the opposition to return to the committee, saying, "I hope the confrontation between the ruling and opposition parties will be resolved soon so that we can discuss state affairs with the United Future Party members."
At the meeting, the agenda to appoint Go Yong-jin, a Democratic Party member, as the ruling party's secretary was approved.
