Seoul Jung-gu Supports Maker Education Experience Instructor Training Program
Establishing a Local Instructor Pool to Provide Customized Education and Create Jobs... Encouraging Participation of Parents of People with Developmental Disabilities, Creating a Structure for Mutual Care Focused on Adults with Developmental Disabilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seoyangho) is supporting the 'Maker Education Experience Instructor Training Course' to establish a lifelong learning foundation for local residents and to discover capable instructors who can be active in the community.
'Maker Education' is an education gaining attention recently in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution era, aimed at equipping learners with problem-solving skills using digital tools based on creative thinking.
This maker education experience instructor training course is also part of the district's virtuous cycle job policy that creates jobs by utilizing local community personnel through a citizen-proposed lifelong learning program contest project.
Organized by the social cooperative Pine Tree and the cooperative Akim-eopsi Juneun Namu, the program is designed so that participants can become maker education experience instructors or assistant instructors, create their own content, and participate in related projects using it.
The course, held from June 30 every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a total of 11 weeks, consists of crafts, block coding, 3D printing, workshops, and more.
Participants can directly experience maker education while acquiring the basic knowledge and skills required for local instructors.
Applications are open until the 26th and target those interested in the maker education field, local residents, and senior local instructors. Recruitment is limited to 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to Jung-gu residents. Outstanding graduates will also be provided with a foundation to work as instructors.
Additionally, this education aims to encourage participation from parents of individuals with developmental disabilities, supporting them to acquire educational capabilities as maker instructors and to raise their children healthily.
Furthermore, by activating networks among education participants, the program plans to complement the limitations of existing care services focused on adults with developmental disabilities, establishing a structure for mutual care and coexistence called 'Seorodolbom' (mutual care).
Schedules may change due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
