"Excellence of Health Insurance to Be Promoted Worldwide" Joint Online Content Production by NHIS and World Bank
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) and the World Bank announced on the 17th that they have agreed to jointly produce online learning content. This decision came at the request of the World Bank, which highly evaluated the excellence and operational experience of Korea's health insurance system. The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding in writing on the same day.
The content jointly produced by the two institutions will be used as materials for the World Bank's training program titled "Achieving Universal Health Coverage." To better support the achievement of universal health coverage in developing countries in the post-COVID-19 era, they decided to create online learning content.
With Korea's COVID-19 response gaining global attention, the NHIS expects that the role of "K Health Insurance" related to this will also be effectively promoted worldwide. The World Bank Online Learning Campus, which signed the memorandum of understanding, is an organization established to share experiences and knowledge in development cooperation fields, including health insurance systems, primarily targeting developing countries. It provides learning curricula by field.
Kang Sang-baek, Director of Global Cooperation at NHIS, stated, "In preparation for the post-COVID-19 era, not only through this memorandum of understanding but also by independently developing online learning programs to strengthen the capabilities of healthcare professionals in developing countries, we are promoting the excellence of our health insurance system worldwide."
