[Golf Topic] LPGA Tour "Resumes with Drive On Championship at the End of July"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…The U.S. Women's Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour will finally resume the 2020 season at the end of July.
The LPGA Tour office announced on the 17th (Korean time) that "the tour will restart along with the newly established Drive On Championship." The Drive On Championship will be held for three days starting July 31 at Inverness Golf Club in Toledo, Ohio, USA. A total of 144 players will compete for a total prize money of 1 million dollars. Due to concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the event will be held without sponsors, pro-am events, or spectators.

The LPGA Tour has been suspended since mid-February after the ISPS Handa Australian Open due to COVID-19. Following the Drive On Championship, the Marathon Classic will take place for four days starting August 6 at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio, USA. With the approval of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, spectators will be allowed. After the Marathon Classic, the tour will move to Europe for the Scottish Open and the British Open.
