COVID-19 Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund Applications Accepted at Employment Centers Starting from the 22nd
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyun-jung] The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 16th that on-site applications for the 'COVID-19 Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund' for special-type workers, freelancers, small-scale self-employed, and unpaid leave workers will be accepted at employment centers under the jurisdiction of the applicant's address starting from the 22nd.
Applicants can apply for the Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund at the employment center under their jurisdiction from the 22nd until the 20th of next month by bringing their ID, application form, and supporting documents. During the first two weeks, applications will be operated on a five-day rotation system based on the applicant's birth year.
This announcement was made considering the high public interest, as approximately 700,000 applications were received within 15 days since the application started on the dedicated website on June 1st. The offline application period, originally scheduled to begin on July 1st, has been moved up to the 22nd of this month to make it easier for applicants who find online applications inconvenient to receive support.
However, even after the offline application begins, online applications through the dedicated website will continue to be accepted until the 20th of next month. Online applications can be submitted by anyone regardless of birth year.
This Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund is intended to stabilize the livelihoods of vulnerable groups who have experienced a decrease in income or sales due to COVID-19 but are not protected by employment insurance. Eligible recipients can receive 1.5 million KRW.
Minister Lee Jae-gap said, "Seeing about 700,000 people apply for the Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund since the 1st of this month, I once again realized that many people are struggling due to COVID-19," and added, "I hope those who have not been able to apply online due to unfamiliarity with computers or mobile devices will be able to receive the necessary support through offline applications."
