Issuance of Electronic Certificates Such as Resident Registration Certificate via KakaoTalk
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Residents will be able to apply for cultural and professional courses operated by community centers through KakaoTalk (KakaoTalk).
Kakao announced on the 16th that it will sign a "Business Agreement for Digital Government Innovation" with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety at the Kakao Pangyo Office on the afternoon of the 17th.
Kakao and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety will discuss and cooperate on various ways to enhance convenience in using public services by utilizing Kakao's technology and digital service capabilities. First, they plan to implement a service within this year that allows users to apply for various cultural and professional courses operated by community centers through KakaoTalk.
It is also expected that public parking lots, district office auditoriums, and meeting rooms will be reservable via KakaoTalk. The government will open information related to course applications and public facility reservations in the form of open APIs, and Kakao will utilize this to launch the service within the year.
Additionally, a service that allows users to easily apply for and receive electronic certificates such as resident registration certificates, and to receive and pay taxes or fines via KakaoTalk, is planned to be introduced next year. Furthermore, various measures to enhance the convenience for citizens using public services will be discussed by leveraging Kakao's digital service capabilities, including artificial intelligence (AI) and authentication technologies.
Jin-young, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, stated, "As we promote digital government innovation, the government plans to further expand cooperation with the private sector by opening public services."
