Geoje City Secures Maximum Support Amount of 500 Million KRW for 'Gagahoho Daol Center Project'

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] On the 16th, Gyeongnam Province announced that the ‘Gagahoho Daol Center Construction Project’ in Geoje City, Gyeongnam, was finally selected in the ‘2020 Population Decline and Low Birthrate Response Contest’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and will receive a special grant of up to 500 million KRW.
This contest was held by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, inviting local governments nationwide to apply for projects that can effectively respond to the regional population decline and low birthrate crisis, selecting a total of 10 projects, and providing a total of 4 billion KRW in special grants.
A total of 34 projects nationwide applied for this contest, and after the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s first document screening, second on-site evaluation, and third presentation evaluation, 10 final projects were selected.
The ‘Gagahoho Daol Center Construction Project’ in Geoje City, which was finally selected in this contest, is a project to support crisis families in the region due to the downturn in the shipbuilding industry. It aims to establish a one-stop family and care service center equipped with a family healing center, pregnancy and childcare care facilities, infant experience program rooms, shared childcare spaces, and family communication areas.
Geoje City plans to build the ‘Gagahoho Daol Center’ in connection with the living SOC project, investing a total project cost of 8.2 billion KRW to construct a building with a total area of 3,500㎡, consisting of one basement floor and four above-ground floors by 2022.
